We are very excited to announce a special event next month. Creative Law Network's Dave Ratner is the featured guest for the XXII Installment of the Colorado Music Collective

From Dave's time on the road as a tour and band manager to establishing his own entertainment law firm in Denver, everything is up for discussion at this roundtable Q&A. Dave's knowledge and experience will provide for an entertaining and informative evening!

Halloween: Legal Horror Stories

Please join us for a special kind of Halloween scare on October 10th! In collaboration with RedLine, and the Art Students League of Denver, The CBCA is guest hosting a Moxie U Event: Legal Horror Stories at the Clyfford Still Museum!

What happens when someone infringes on your copyright, or you don't have a signed contract? Fear not! Creative Law Network's Dave Ratner will join local artists and other creative professionals to share similar horror stories and how to avoid them! This will be a fun opportunity to meet your peers and learn from each other's experiences!

ART + LAW Workshop Event

We are proud to announce an informational event for attorneys and creative professionals by Colorado Attorneys for the Arts, presented by Creative Law Network's Dave Ratner. The Art + Law Workshop is CAFTA’s first in Buena Vista, Colorado. The event will feature workshops for both attorneys and creatives. The morning session for attorneys will guide participants on counseling and supporting Colorado’s vibrant arts sector. The afternoon session for creatives will focus on common legal issues that creative professionals and entities encounter. In between will be a networking lunch with live musical entertainment!

Two Turntables and Copyright Law: The Licensing of a Music Website

An interesting and exciting event is coming up, featuring the lead lawyer for one of the music industry’s most innovative companies! Brandon Shevin is the General Counsel for Beatport.com and representative for the events conglomerate LiveStyle. Courtesy of the Colorado Bar Association, Brandon will lead a discussion, "Two Turntables and Copyright Law: The Licensing of a Music Website", focusing on topics such as music downloads vs streaming and digital remix contests, as well as what legal concerns come with starting a music website.

Youth on Record

On August 11th, Creative Law Network’s Dave Ratner will be hosting a presentation and Q&A with Youth on Record, a Colorado-based nonprofit organization that aims to empower underserved youth to achieve their academic, artistic and personal goals by employing local, professional artists as their educators. This free presentation begins at 11:30 am at Youth on Record (1301 W. 10th Avenue, Denver, CO 80204) and will focus on copyrights and rights to music. The latest edition of Promoter 101 features Creative Law Network’s Dave Ratner alongside Ed Bicknell (the former manager of Dire Straits) and Ali Spagnola (comedian, musician and internet celebrity). 2017 Creative Industries Summit

Colorado Creative Industries will be hosting its annual Creative Industries Summit in Breckenridge on May 4th and 5th. This event takes place at the Riverwalk Center and Arts District Campus and will host numerous exhibits, networking opportunities, classes, workshops and more for people involved in the creative industries in Colorado. Keynote speakers include Jane Chu (National Endowment for the Arts), Daniel Windham and Bob Harlow (Wallace Foundation) and Vince Kablubek (Meow Wolf). Creative Law Network’s Dave Ratner will be attending and giving a presentation titled “How does the law apply to your creative work? All you need to know about copyright and the law as it applies to you”. General registration is $165, students are $125, and the Governor’s Awards Luncheon is $40. Register now!

Career Advancement Awards

Hey, Artists and Creatives! Colorado Creative Industries is now accepting applications for their 2017 Career Advancement Awards. These are state-funded grants to help with your career advancement in the creative industries. The grants range from $500 to $2,500 and are designed to help awardees participate in business development activities to increase revenue, gain a new audience and improve business practices. The deadline to apply for the 2017 awards is May 2nd.
